We support the next evolution in language learning by pairing speakers together in our Sheshaghyn programme. As an Apprentice/Prindeys, you will learn with with an experienced speaker and develop to your own plan.
For £20 you can enjoy a personal learning plan spread over 10 sessions with an experienced speaker. You can shape the conversation how you would use Manx. Help support your interaction with children at the Bunscoill Ghaelgagh, develop your academic interests in linguistics or just have a chat over a coffee.
Whilst we encourage chats over a coffee to get the most out of using Manx, we also support and promote using technology to reach your potential. Our Sheshaghyn programme supports learning programmes over Google Hangouts, Skype, and more.
Could you be a Mainshter?
Becoming someone’s Mentor (“Mainshter”) can be in a formal or informal capacity, using time and contact method suitable to you. We recognise the contribution all our Mentors contribute not only to their Apprentices, but also the Manx Gaelic community.
How it works
- Register your interest
Let us know what your skill level is and how you’d prefer to meet your speaker/Mainshter. - We’ll find an experienced speaker
Your Mainshter will be slightly ahead of you to help you develop your Manx Gaelic and become a confident speaker. - Keep an eye out for an email
When we’ve found a match for you, we’ll email you. - Pay for your sessions Use PayPal to securely pay for your session with your Mainshter.
- Start when you’re ready We’ll put you in touch with your Mainshter so you can start when you’re ready.
Membership Benefit
The Sheshaghyn speaking programme is a Membership benefit exclusive to Pobble Members.
You can help support our work through a regular annual donation of £10. We will use your donation to continue hosting events, creating spaces for Manx Gaelic and evolving language learning.

Frequently asked questions
Can I extend my sessions?
Yes! We’d love to help you build on your experience speaking with your Mainshter, or choose a different one for a new challenge. Simply register again and we’ll take care of the rest.
Can I be a Mainshter and a Prindeys?
Yes! This will be a great opportunity to develop your skills as a teacher and a learner.
